was widely expected to be a generational signing for . But the winger has failed to live up to his hype and is performing worse than a player previously dubbed 's "worst-ever signing".

from in the summer of 2021 after over 12 months of interest. He had a phenomenal record at Dortmund for a player at such a young age.

He scored 50 goals and registered 64 assists in 137 appearances in all competitions for the German club. No wonder United committed to paying £73million for his signature at the age of 21.

in 2019 for a smidgen under what United paid for Sancho. The Ivory Coast star had his moments in an Arsenal shirt but never really became a fan favourite during a difficult few years for the club.

However, a quick glance at his record for Arsenal would leave Sancho red-faced. Pepe, currently on loan at French side Nice, has played 112 games in total for the Gunners.

He has scored 27 goals and registered 21 assists. Pepe averages a goal contribution every 2.3 matches in an Arsenal shirt.

Sancho, meanwhile, can only boast a goal contribution every 4.5 matches for United. If he were to continue on the same trajectory, it would take him a total of 216 games to match the same output Pepe has managed - over 100 more appearances.

Some United supporters may claim Pepe has featured more regularly than Sancho in the games that he has played, to distort the figures above. But, according to transfermarkt.co.uk, Pepe averages 58.9 minutes per appearance for Arsenal, while Sancho is slightly ahead at 62.3 minutes per appearance.
